"Pro-Life" Voters Set To Give Pro-Abortion Zealots Control Of Congress
10.23.2006

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- If the election were held today, Democrats would control the U.S. House of Representatives by as many as ten seats. The U.S. Senate could go either way, but if Republicans retained control of the upper chamber, it would likely only be because the Vice President may break ties.

"In both the House and Senate, the balance of power will swing significantly in favor of pro-abortion advocates," said Douglas R. Scott, Jr., president of Life Decisions International (LDI). "And, as usual, pro-abortion activists will claim it was because most people support legal abortion."

But Scott said abortion apologists are not the only ones to blame. "Once again, I am hearing people who espouse an anti-abortion point of view say they are willing to put the lives of preborn children on the backburner," Scott said.

"I am appalled when I hear a pastor or the leader of a Respect Life group tell others that abortion is 'just one issue' of many. No wonder we lose!" Scott said. "Abortion is certainly not the only issue I care about, but it is by far the overwhelming issue of our day. Anyone who cannot see this fact has either been deceived or simply does not know what abortion really is; what abortion really does to children, women, families and our nation."

"I can assure every American that no person who cares about preserving Roe v. Wade is putting another issue ahead of abortion. It is this kind of single-mindedness and determination that leads to victory. It is time that we become as strategically smart as our opponents."

"While not every man or woman who opposes abortion is the kind of person who should hold public office, everyone who condones the violent act is inherently the kind of person who should not hold public office," Scott said. "Whenever a person who claims to care about preborn children votes for a candidate who condones abortion, he or she puts a personal stamp of approval on the killing."

"Yes, I am proudly 'guilty' of being a single-issue voter," Scott said. "And I look forward to the day when the lives of the most innocent human beings are protected so I may use my vote to help right other wrongs. But until that day comes, I for one will not be complicit in turning our collective backs on my preborn brothers and sisters just so I may feel like I've made a statement about some other issue."

Scott said any person who leads a Respect Life group while preaching the "abortion is just one issue of many" mantra should immediately resign for leading people astray.
