Voting for Barabbas

  by David Howard Sudlow

A vote for Barabbas will destroy America.

Senator Ted Cruz is the only candidate capable of reversing the anti-Christian agenda put in place by President Obama. There is no question that Cruz is a righteous man who fears the Lord Jesus Christ. There are other candidates who fit this category and who are also principled conservatives, but they are not as good as Cruz on the issues and his proven record. The Republican leadership does not like Cruz because he is true to his Christian faith and because of his unquestionable stand for the U.S. Constitution. Yet this is exactly what it will take to raise a standard against the evil that has come in like a flood.

Any Christian voting for Donald Trump is making a “Barabbas” choice. Trump is not a sincere Christian and is a great deceiver who is more of a Democrat than a Republican. He is liberal on 90 percent of the issues and is not one of us. Money and power are his god and he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He has never asked God for forgiveness for anything in his life. How can anyone who lives like that be on the side of the Lord?

Those who vote for Trump are choosing a prideful man of the flesh and shrewd businessman who knows how to wheel-and-deal, no matter how unethical. He is on his third wife and is a womanizer. Many are fooled to think he is the best chance of winning against the Democrats. But the truth is that until he set his eyes on running for President, he was openly supportive of abortion and the homosexual agenda.

Remember the recent past. If Trump wins the Republican nomination to run against Hilary Clinton, Bernie Sanders or some other Democrat, there is no question I will reluctantly vote for the least of the evil. It is important we vote for the least evil or we get the worst. Unfortunately, many Christians disagree with voting for the least evil and that is why we got Obama in 2008 and 2012. Millions of Christians did not vote in those elections and their no vote resulted in a far greater evil in the White House. If Democrats win the general election against Ted Cruz, we will see the ultimate Barabbas scenario play out. The same verdict of the people that released the original Barabbas instead of Jesus.

Like the Church, the Republican Party is a house divided. The huge number of candidates is a sign of how much we are divided.

Is it too late? Absolutely not. Man’s importunity is God’s greatest opportunity. There are many Christians praying for America to turn back to God and that our next President will stand unashamed for Christ. When will God reach a limit of not being mocked any longer? If America chooses a Barabbas, we will see greater judgment quickly. Of course there is the possibility that the Lord makes a bad leader into a Nebuchadnezzar who turns to God, but historically the Lord has usually used one of His own to deliver His people from destruction.

It is time for us to enter more fully into II Chronicles 7:14* than ever before and to get behind Ted Cruz. The spiritual battle is going to get severe but the battle is the Lord’s. Until Christ returns we are called to stand for God’s standards of truth and morality, which means we need to vote.

As for me and my house, we will stand on the Lord’s side with the candidate who speaks the boldest for Him. Ted Cruz is my choice for President.

* II Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

David Howard Sudlow was raised in a conservative Christian home, yet was a prodigal son for most of his teenage years. Just before his 21st birthday, David found himself in a “Damascus Road” experience, which brought him to the true reality of life through the power Jesus Christ.

David has worked as a layman in a number of Christian ministries and traveled in 25 countries. In 1994, Christians for Israel International asked him to start the Christians for Israel ministry in the USA and Canada. David served as the organization’s executive director and publication editor for six years.

David believes he has a timely message for today. The Church needs to awaken from a Laodicea condition and recognize the prophetic signs of Christ’s Second Coming. As a lay-evangelist he challenges Christians to have faith in the “blessed hope” and to live in the expectancy of the imminent return of Jesus.
